Joanne Fearnley quoted by The Daily Telegraph on the impact Thomas Cook’s collapse will have on the UK high street

Joanne Fearnley, partner and commercial property expert at Gordons, has been quoted by The Daily Telegraph reacting to the impact of Thomas Cook’s collapse on the UK high street.
When Thomas Cook ceased trading overnight on September 22-23, it left up to 150,000 UK passengers stranded abroad and many more potentially out of pocket or facing up to losing their holiday. However, there is another consequence, as Joanne commented:
“We must not forget in all of this that there is a major impact for the high street too. Thomas Cook has 588 stores which will inevitably close, a further blow for landlords already suffering from a number of high-profile closures and collapses.
“It’s another massive blow for the UK high street and underlines the need for imaginative change.”
