Gordons Wins Mid-Market Deal of the Year at Insider South Yorkshire Dealmaker Awards
Monday 4th July 2022
The dealmaking community has recognised an acquisition that Gordons advised on at Insider’s South Yorkshire Dealmakers Awards 2022.
The acquisition of commercial vehicle components supplier 3G Truck and Trailer Parts (3G) was named the mid-market deal of the year. Recently, the company was acquired in July 2021 by a joint venture between commercial brake specialist Thos Winnard & Sons and original 3G investors John Bruce and Peter Beaumont.
A deal worthy of recognition
Gordons’ corporate partner Jonathan Asquez led a team advising the joint venture on the purchase, including corporate solicitors Lisa Murphy and Andrew Moore. Insider’s South Yorkshire Dealmakers Awards 2022 celebrated the top deals of the last 12 months and the companies and the individuals who to made them happen.
Rotherham-based 3G was established 12 years ago by Richard Ash, Stewart Ashall and John Carr, with John Bruce and Peter Beaumont as investors. The company was sold to TVS Europe Distribution (TVS) in 2020. The transaction was subsequently voluntarily referred to the Competition and Markets Authority, which directed TVS to dispose of its shareholding. Following a competitive sale process, the joint venture between Thos Winnard & Sons and John Bruce and Peter Beaumont agreed to a deal to buy back the company.
