Online Safety Act 2023 – start of guidance roadmap

This Act appoints Ofcom as the UK’s online safety regulator to govern and tackle illegal and harmful content on social media platforms. Statutory guidance is being rolled out in different phases. In Spring 2024, Ofcom is expected to publish proposals for child safety duties and pornography. This will include guidance on carrying out children’s access and safety assessments and draft codes of practice that set out recommended measures to protect children online.
