(EU) Cyber Solidarity Act
Tuesday 7th May 2024
The Act is awaiting formal approval by European Parliament and the Council. The Act will ensure that the EU betters its approach in detecting, preparing and responding to cyberthreats and incidents. The Act includes three actions:
- The introduction of the European Cybersecurity Alert Systems, which will consist of a network of national and cross-border ‘Cyber Hubs’ which will leverage tools and infrastructure used to promptly detect cyber threats and incidents;
- Creation of the Cybersecurity Emergency mechanism, which will work with entities in critical sectors; create an incident response service ready to intervene at the request of the affected body; and provide financial support for Member States providing technical assistance to another Member state affected by a cybersecurity incident; and
- European Cybersecurity Incident Review Mechanism, which will review and assess large scale incidents after they have occurred and provide recommendations to improve the EU’s cyber security.
