Monday 22nd June 2009
Leeds and Bradford law firm Gordons has advised on the creation of a new environmentally friendly business park in Ripponden, near Halifax and sale of its first unit.
Acting on behalf of Ripponden Business Park’s directors, lawyers from Gordons’ commercial property department initially set up the estate and then the firm’s construction team advised during the building of the park.
Ripponden Business Park has significant green credentials and uses renewable energy technology to reduce heating costs and CO2 emissions. The initial phase of the building at the business park has been completed and the first Grade A office unit has been sold to financial services business, Mackrill Financial Management.
Neville Senior, director of Ripponden Business Park, commented: “We are certain the business park will play a significant role in enhancing the surrounding area. We anticipate that it will create 200 jobs and contribute directly to the local economy.
“We partnered with Gordons from the inception of the scheme, right through to the ongoing sales activity. Throughout that time we have found everyone we have dealt with at the firm to be professional, thorough, helpful and persistent.”
Ripponden Business Park is a development of Grade A office buildings set in an attractive semi-rural environment immediately off the A678 Oldham Road. Halifax and Huddersfield are only six miles away whilst the centres of Leeds and Manchester are within 30 minutes drive. Mark Hanson, director of Huddersfield-based Hanson Chartered Surveyors, is the agent for development.
Partner, Paul Young leads the commercial property team that works with the Ripponden Business Park management team. Construction matters were handled by Gordons’ construction team.
Paul Young said: “The location, availability and sheer quality of build and design have given the new business park its appeal. It is always a great feeling to work with a client from inception through to sales, and we are confident that Ripponden Business Park will continue to buck the economic trend thanks to the strength of its proposition.”
