DHG, a Pan-European medical device manufacturer, has completed the acquisition of Benmor Medical, further strengthening its UK Bariatric Rental and Service operations with a well-established and highly regarded portfolio and brand.
A team from Gordons, led by Corporate partner Jonathan Asquez and solicitor Andrew Moore, and solicitors Jennifer Stead and Oliver Allanach, acted as legal advisors to the shareholders of Benmor Medical on the deal.
Benmor Medical, founded in 1996, was the UK’s first company to specialise in the provision of bariatric patient handling solutions, and has been recognised by its UK customers for its outstanding service built across three decades.
The acquisition of Benmor not only provides DHG’s existing rental customers with expanded access to more bariatric solutions, such as the patented Aurum+ bariatric bed, but will also provide Benmor’s customer-base with an enhanced portfolio of bariatric and non-bariatric Pressure Ulcer Prevention and Safe Moving and Handling products for both rental and purchase. Further, service delivery is also significantly enhanced through this acquisition, providing customers of both Benmor and DHG with nationwide coverage and direct access to over 70 dedicated Technicians.
Through DHG’s wider geographical reach, being direct in an additional 4 European geographies and present in over 35 countries worldwide through a distributor network, it is hoped that more bariatric patients across the globe can receive dignified care by increasing access to the Aurum+ bed, a unique bariatric care bed specifically designed to deliver safe and effective bariatric care for both the user and the caregiver.
Providing care to bariatric patients is an increasingly necessary and important challenge for today’s healthcare providers. In the UK alone, current obesity rates sit at 28%, and are anticipated to rise to 38% within the next 5 years. The unique anatomical and care requirements of bariatric patients can place both caregivers and users at risk if appropriate and specifically designed solutions are not used.
Graham Ewart, CEO of DHG, said: “The acquisition of Benmor Medical positions DHG as a leading provider of solutions to improve the quality of life and provision of dignified care for bariatric individuals. The decades of experience and trust that Benmor has built is invaluable to DHG, and customers can rest assured that the unique level of service and support received from Benmor will continue through DHG.”
Peter Staddon, CEO of Benmor Medical, said: “DHG and Benmor fit together seamlessly. Both companies recognise the importance of excellent service, unrivalled knowledge, and access to education to ensure that our customers not only receive the correct solution and support, but also added value. In particular, the access of Benmor’s existing customers to DHG’s Ethos Education platform is a significant benefit. DHG provides the correct platform to continue to grow the Benmor brand both in the UK and internationally.”
DHG’s growth continues to be backed by ArchiMed, a leading independent investment firm specialised in the healthcare industries, who encourage strategic growth through dedicated resources and with significant capital investment. Both ArchiMed and DHG seek new ways to support efforts to move health forward by delivering innovative and leading solutions for individuals whose lives are impacted by reduced movement.
