Gordons donates 70 Christmas hampers to Age UK Bradford District
Thursday 10th December 2020
Yorkshire law firm Gordons has donated 70 festive hampers to annual charity partner Age UK Bradford District to further help local people in need over the Christmas period.
This latest initiative follows soon after Gordons donated its £10,000 staff Christmas party budget to nationwide foodbank charity The Trussell Trust and the Leeds North & West and Bradford Central food banks.
The hampers, which contain a combination of festive food and drink and small gifts such as scarves, toiletries and mugs, will provide a treat for older people in and around Bradford during what can be a very lonely and isolating time for many.
Staff from across the firm gave generously to Gordons’ Age UK Bradford District Christmas appeal, with a team of volunteers then helping to pack and send the hampers to the charity.
Commenting on the firm’s hampers initiative, Age UK Bradford District’s director of business development, Chris Alexander, said: “The generosity of everyone at Gordons will be a huge boost to a number of older people in the district who count on our support. After such a tough year for the charity and the people we assist, we’re very pleased to have been able to count on Gordons’ support.”
Earlier this year, Gordons raised more than £2,500 for the charity after the firm’s staff and their families took on a series of inventive and creative challenges during lockdown.
Gordons commercial property solicitor, Rebecca D’Arcy, who organised the donation, added: “We wanted to spread some festive cheer because this year has been so hard for many. Older people may well have spent long periods feeling lonely and isolated, so we hope our hampers put a few smiles on people’s faces over Christmas.”
Age UK Bradford District has been helping older people for more than 25 years. It has 40 dedicated staff and more than 300 volunteers helping deliver services to the whole of the Bradford Metropolitan District including Bingley, Keighley, Ilkley and Shipley as well as surrounding villages and rural areas.
