Gordons is celebrating after winning the corporate and commercial award at the Yorkshire Legal Awards 2021.
Held at New Dock Hall in Leeds, the glittering awards ceremony saw hundreds of the county’s professionals gather to celebrate the successes of Yorkshire’s legal community.
Corporate partner James Fawcett was presented with the award on stage by compere for the evening, stand-up comedian, writer and actor, Hal Cruttenden.
Commenting on why Gordons won the award, the judges said: “Gordons is an example of Yorkshire’s finest, with excellent work being carried out on some impressive transactions for its client base in the region. The firm also has a good pro bono offering.”
Against the backdrop of the pandemic, Gordons’ corporate team had an exceptional 12-month period from May 2020 to May 2021. The team was extremely active, advising on transactions with a combined value of more than £500m.
Gordons has maintained this momentum from May onwards, advising on deals including the acquisition of luxury books specialist Kingsbury Press by Bluetree Group, insurance broker Butterworth Spengler’s acquisition of Brunsdon Insurance and a management buy-out at Clear Edge Search & Selection.
James Fawcett said: “We are really pleased to have won this award. It is great recognition of the tremendous work done by our fantastic team at Gordons.
“We continue to advise on a wide range of corporate transactions, both within Yorkshire and beyond, and are committed to building upon the success we have achieved over the last 18 months.”
