Yorkshire law firm Gordons has named cancer charity Marie Curie Cancer Care as its chosen charity and will raise funds for its hospice in Bradford via a variety of fundraising initiatives over the next 12 months.
Marie Curie Cancer Care is one of the UKs largest charities and provides end of life care to terminally ill patients in their own homes, or in one of its nine hospices.
The Marie Curie Hospice in Bradford offers specialist care for people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. As well as a 16-bed inpatient unit, the hospice also has a fully equipped day service department that offers individual support sessions and various group activities to patients and their families.
Brian Curran, Regional Corporate Development Manager at Marie Curie Cancer Care, said:
“We’re delighted that Gordons has selected Marie Curie as its chosen charity for the coming year. We are dependent on the support of companies like Gordons to ensure we can continue to care for people who are looked after at our Bradford Hospice.”
Employing more than 2,700 nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals, Marie Curie Cancer Care provided care to more than 31,000 terminally ill patients in the community and in its nine hospices last year and is the largest provider of hospice beds outside the NHS.
Gordons senior partner, John Holden, commented:
“We recognise that everyone at the Marie Curie Bradford Hospice is committed to providing the best levels of care and support for patients with cancer and an overwhelming number of Gordons staff members wanted the charity to benefit from our fundraising efforts this year so that all money raised can go towards equipment and care provisions at the hospice.”
