Ten years on...
Friday 10th February 2023
I began my career straight from college joining the award winning Gordons Apprenticeship in September 2012. I distinctly remember my first day, arriving in my newly bought suit, full of nerves and thinking the finish line seemed such a long way away, would I ever make it?
I needn’t have worried, my five year journey flew by and I embraced and overcame the challenges of entering the world of work, completing degree level exams and gaining invaluable on the job experience.
I worked closely with qualified lawyers who helped shape and mould my professionalism ready for qualification. I found my calling in the Private Client department and in my third and fourth year of the apprenticeship I chose my elective exams in this area of law.
I qualified in October 2017, becoming a Chartered Legal Executive. I now advise on all areas of Private Client such as wills, powers of attorney, court of protection matters, probate, trusts and tax planning. I have a particular interest in court of protection matters and much of my time is spent on court of protection applications or running my elderly client’s financial affairs for them if they are unable to manage themselves due to mental incapacity.
Since qualifying, I have continued my development and completed a further two year specialist qualification in Private Client law with the support and encouragement of Gordons.
Gordons Apprenticeship provided me with the opportunity, I provided the hard work and can-do attitude and looking back I can say my career would not be where it is today if I hadn’t walked in to the offices on that first day as a nervous 18 year old apprentice wondering what lay ahead for me.
Gordons has been named as one of the top 100 UK employers for school leavers, and I am proud to be a part of the Gordons Apprenticeship success.
