New permitting requirements for waste carriers, brokers and dealers – and digital waste tracking

In October 2023 the government indicated that it intends to introduce a new system whereby waste carriers, brokers and dealers will need to obtain a ‘standard rules’ environmental permit or register an exemption. The government is expected to introduce legislation later this year implementing the change as well as the introduction of a digital waste tracking system.
